Nenagh Classic Car Club By: Brendan Murphy
Classic Car Display at the Manor House Nursing Home Nenagh
When it comes to parties the members of the Nenagh Classic Car Club don’t need to be asked twice, so when we received an invite to the residents party of the Manor Nursing Home on Saturday June 17th we were only too happy to support this local event and bring with us a host of Classic and Vintage cars to put on display on the day. We had never attended this annual event before and so did not know what to expect, but we were in for quite a treat as this party turned out to be such an enjoyable event. The organisers had really pulled out all the stops as the residents were treated to a live band that had the entire place rocking, endless amount of food and refreshments, pony rides for the kids, face painting and much more. I requested an application form for residency myself but I was informed I had a few years to go yet to qualify, what a pity. The addition of the Classic and Vintage cars just added the finishing touches to what could only be described as a masterpiece of a party as it contained everything and more to entertain all ages. The staff and organisers went to great lengths to host this event, and as I sat in the shade under the tree on the beautiful grounds of the Manor Nursing Home I could see the warm and friendly relationship the staff have with the residents which created a great atmosphere on the day.

The club brought along a host of cars which included VW Beetles , Mercedes , Hillman , MG Midget , and a Ford Prefect to name a few. The cars got quite a bit of attention from the residents as some of the cars sparked memories and stories from days gone by, some of the stories we were lucky enough to hear and they were greatly told I must add. The house and beautiful grounds looked amazing in the sun which added to the event. The party concluded after 5pm and the convoy of classic and vintage cars departed the grounds leaving behind a great day and some great memories for both the car owners and the residents of the Manor Nursing Home.
Club News: Upcoming event
This Club will host its annual show in association with the North Tipperary Agricultural show on August 7th bank holiday Monday. This year the club will celebrate 100 years of Ford in Ireland as we go in search of Ireland’s oldest Ford. We invite all makes and models of vintage and classic cars to the show and we will have a dedicated Ford area. This year the Nenagh Classic Car Club show is sponsored by Lyons of Nenagh ( main Ford Dealers) who have promised to bring along a new Ford Mustang on the day, which I’m sure will go down a treat with everyone. The Club would like to acknowledge the continued support of our main sponsor Andy’s Bar Nenagh who has supported the club since founded. Thank you from all our club members.
